It is no secret that I’m kind of obsessed with Alicia Keys. And I’ll be the first to admit that I’m late to the game. I admit it, okay? I didn’t really start paying attention until her album, HERE came out. And then I was so about her that I literally only watched the Voice because she was a judge. The intentionality she carries is unbelievable, and unmatched in Hollywood. Challenge me on it, I dare you!
This is a short film, featuring songs off her latest album, HERE.
Man, every time I start watching this, I get sucked in again. It’s genius. It’s eye-opening and real and honest. And has some really necessary conversation. It talks of love, race, equality, worth, and so much more. You don’t see the glamorous side of Manhattan in this, but the reality of her streets like Harlem, Brooklyn, the Bronx.
We have seen the brokenness of our country. And films like this open the door for honest conversation.
See her New York.
See her thoughts.
See her personality.
I don’t know how else to reel you into watching this. I just hope you do. Let’s talk about it.
Did you love it? Stay tuned for more of my favorite interviews, concerts, and appearances Alicia has done.
If you are reading this and you’re like, hey I actually don’t know her latest album, and I’d like to. Please, do yourself and the world a favor.
BUY IT. (I have it on vinyl)
C’mon, Alicia. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Cheers and gimme your thoughts.
