Hi. It’s me, the chick who sometimes writes about stuff. But said chick got a job doing writing. Soooo, there are lots of words happening. Just not on here. And I’m mad about it. Here’s me attempting to change that.
How can I summarize a month and a half? Well, I saw Celine Dion in concert and cried and changed positions and found out I was happy and I think I pulled my quad muscle doing a stupid cycle class and spring is here! How was that? You got the gist.
Anyway, I thought I’d put together some of the best things I’ve consumed lately and leave you with some thoughts. Just 2 of each cause nobody has time. Ya feel?
WTF with Marc Maron – #941
Alright. This episode had me rollingggg. I related so much to Melissa McCarthy’s life fishing with her dad, and growing up in a small-town. Hear more about Gilmore Girls, her breakout roll in Bridesmaids, her love for fashion, and so many more hilarious stories.
Armchair Expert – #051
So hashtag quotable. The whole thing. They have a really insightful conversation about the basis of relationships today, and how when they’re built on what we hate, there’s nothing to build off of. Highly recommend.
Ya soooo, she rocks. I saw her in concert and this is what I said via Instagram (which she re-posted on her story – yes I died inside) “I’m such a raving fan of Julia Michaels. She does her lyrics with brutal, blunt honesty and her stage presence appears effortless. Even though she’s expressed that it’s not. She doesn’t shy away from mental health issues, but calls it for what it is: a daily struggle, worth acknowledging.”
Who even am I recommending country?!? I can’t be held responsible – I just am who I am. I’ve been on #TeamMaren ever since I heard the story about how one year she was watching the CMAs at a bar, and the following year SHE WAS THERE. I just, yeah. The dreamer in me lives for that crap. Dreams come true, y’all. You go girl.
The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley – HBO
Elizabeth Holmes became the world’s youngest self-made billionaire, heralded as the next Steve Jobs. Then, just two years later, her multibillion-dollar company was dissolved.
Y’alllllll. This chick is cray cray. What even are #ethics and #honesty? Who’s to say? Not our girl Lizzy, that’s for sure.
Leaving Neverland – HBO
At the height of his stardom, Michael Jackson began long-running relationships with two boys, aged 7 and 10, and their families. Now in their 30s, they tell the story of how they were sexually abused by Jackson.
Uhm, don’t do it unless you’re ready. And don’t say I didn’t warn you. (This is me warning you.) The amount of grooming and sheer lack of awareness realllllly worries me with this. I know I’m not them, and I wasn’t there, but man. This was hard to watch.
Russian Doll – Netflix
A woman gets caught in a loop as she repeatedly goes to the same party and dies at the end of the night — only to find herself unharmed the next morning as if nothing had ever happened.
An excellent 8 episode comedy-drama. The cinematography is colorful and inspiring and will probably have you wishing you were in New York. I had chills at the end of this. Easily binge-able.
Killing Eve – Hulu
Eve and Villanelle go head to head in a fierce game of cat and mouse, each woman equally obsessed with the other as Eve is tasked with hunting down the psychopathic assassin.
I loved it so much! It’s dark and twisty, but sheesh do I love me some BBC. Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer did PHENOMENAL. I’ve never watched a show where I actually enjoyed the villain as much as I did in this show.
Mmmmmk. Per usual – tell me what I’m not consuming. My list is ever growing! Cheers – happy friday jr.
